Art sales benefit Friends of Konza Prairie (FOKP), a friends group of Kansas State University. FOKP promotes educational research and experiences in the Konza Prairie Biological Station, an area of the Flint Hills just south of Manhattan, Kansas.

Curator: Susan Green serves as the Marcia Manhart Endowed Associate Curator for Contemporary Art & Design at the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she works directly with living artists and the significant, growing Philbrook collection, as well as the historic Villa Philbrook and the Museum archive. Susan graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master of Arts in Art History and from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and German.

Group exhibition and sale of donated art by Laura Berman, Lisa Grossman, Don Wolfe, Dave Leiker, Kelly Yarbrough, Mary Gordon, Diana Werts, Dale Hartley, Matthew Regier, Kirsten Furlong, and William Lewis. These works will be displayed in The School’s hallway gallery.
A rummage sale (in the gym) of quality used items, vintage curiosities, and lots of other useful and/or unusual treasures.
Breakfast and lunch offered by the Southfork Smokestack food truck.
There will also be homemade pie, live music, and activities for kids!
All of the proceeds from the art and the rummage sale will go to the ongoing renovations and maintenance of the The School and particularly towards the installation of a new heating system as the building still has no operative heating/cooling.
And all funds raised from the event will be matched by our partnering organization, Third Coast Activist Resource Center.
Symphony in the Flint Hills presents the annual juried Prairie Art Exhibit and Online Auction, on exhibit daily from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. through June 15, 2021 at the Symphony in the Flint Hills Gallery, 331 Broadway St. in Cottonwood Falls, KS.
The online auction is also open for bidding through June 15. Money raised supports the artists and our mission to “heighten appreciation and knowledge of the Flint Hills tallgrass prairie.”
