Playground Series / Restricted Play

The idea for this project began with photos I stumbled across in March/April 2020, as parks were being fenced off to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The photos, aged and candid, were from when my mom taught Kindergarten in Germany, around the mid-90's. Children are gripping the edge of a parachute and running in a circle; a girl tosses a bean bag through a hula hoop. These scenes, along with children's games and present-day playground structures in my neighborhood, served as starting points of inspiration for a series of prints centered around the nostalgia of play.

These prints were made using monotype and pronto plate lithography, and completed during my remote artist residency with International Print Center New York in 2020.
